Block Ambassador Program

Bringing community back to the neighborhood one Block at a time!

Block Ambassadors work in partnership with Connected Communities to cultivate a safe, vibrant community where neighbors feel empowered to share their voices. Neighbors depend on people like you to build community, relationships, and solutions.

The Block Ambassadors, as key community leaders, are trained to build trust, foster communication, and act as conduits for positive change within their neighborhoods. This program is rooted in the belief that resident-led efforts are critical in addressing the systemic issues that contribute to violence and instability and that a united, empowered community is the foundation for long-term neighborhood transformation.

Leadership

Provide leadership and skill development by equipping Block Ambassadors with training in key areas such as Trauma-Informed Care, conflict resolution, and community organizing, enabling them to effectively lead and engage their fellow residents in the Block Club's efforts.

Meet the Block Ambassadors

The Highland District Council

A Block Club is a group of neighbors committed to “knowing one another in order to socialize, address common concerns, promote communication, and improve block safety.”

2024 Block Club Recap

Parsells

Denise led her block to form a tenant's union, empowering renters to tackle issues directly impacting their quality of life. Topics like home rental insurance, rent stabilization, and home security became focal points of action and awareness. One of their biggest achievements was organizing the , where neighbors came together to paint the vibrant intersection of Parsells and Greeley St., turning it into a community landmark that symbolizes pride and unity.

Copeland

​Barbara's leadership drew in community partners to host important workshops and informational sessions, transforming the Copeland Block Club into a center for learning and empowerment. Residents gained valuable knowledge on topics like healthy meal planning and equipping themselves with practical tools to enhance their well-being and ensure a healthier future for their block.

Grand Ave

Rebecca cultivated a safe space where neighbors could not only get to know each other but also grieve and support one another through difficult times. This block club became a pillar of emotional support, creating practical strategies for residents to care for each other in moments of crisis or violence.

Warfield Square

​Andre spearheaded efforts in resource sharing, helping residents access programs designed to uplift youth and families. Youth were introduced to employment opportunities and personal development programs, making Warfield Square a launching pad for young people seeking to better themselves and their futures.

Greeley

​Mary transformed the Greeley Block Club into a hub for family connections and fun. She organized family outings, cookouts, field days, and ice-cream socials that brought people together to network, share stories, and strengthen bonds. Through these activities, families created lifelong memories and developed a tight-knit, supportive community that truly feels like a second family.

Bay St.

The Bay St. Block Club had much intent on relationship-building. Residents connected over shared interests and passions, forming meaningful bonds and linking up with neighborhood organizations to showcase their talents. This new sense of community ownership has sparked a spirit of collaboration and mutual support that will continue to grow.
